Lighting and Sound Technicians fulfil a range of essential jobs in a wide range of media. This can be anything from follow-spotting the star in a West End musical, to designing the lighting on an RSC tour, to operating a multi-channel sound system. Good technicians are also in great demand for dance shows, trade shows and music events. A similar set of opportunities exists in the recorded media of film, television and radio. The work can be a challenging combination of technical knowledge and creativity and the constant evolution of technologies means that professionals in these fields have a major role in shaping the development of theatre and television.
